Georgia Faye was a long time friend of my sister, Jean Harvey Self. They grew up about two miles from each other in the Diamond Mill Baptist Church area of Vernon Parish. They later both worked together at the courthouse. Jean died in 2016. I know that she treasured her friendship with Georgia Faye.

Miss Georgia was a big part of my childhood. From telling on me for locking my sister Jackie in the chicken coop to long talks and coffee on her steps, I’ll always treasure my memories of her.
