

She was born in Leland, MS and lived in Lake Charles. She worked for the Imperial Calcasieu Museum, owned and operated Small World Day Care, served as a drill sergeant in the Civil Air Patrol during WWII.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Langley of Coushatta, LA; 6 daughters, Sally Bourk and husband, Vincent of Baton Rouge, LA, Helen Simon and husband, Chester of Sulphur, Melissa Manuel and husband, Donald of Kinder, Susie Pickens and husband, Dave of Austin, TX, Ann Hayes and husband, Mac of Houston, TX; Gretchen Farris and husband, Jeff of Austin, TX; surrogate son, John Gray; 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Philip Charles Hess.
Her funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. Emanuel Tanu will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery.
