Harold Lee Delaney

He was born in Grand Lake and lived there most of his life. He retired from the City of Lake Charles and loved gardening and sharing his crops with his friends and family. Harold spent many mornings at Boones Corner drinking coffee and storytelling. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed being with family and spent many hours playing with his great grandchildren. He was a dedicated and selfless son and husband, who took care of his mother and wife.

Survivors include his mother, Astozie Delaney of Lake Charles; wife, Lavonna Delaney of Grand Lake; daughters, Vicky Schackelford of Lake Charles, Carol Savoy of Grand Lake, Donna Perkins of Moss Bluff; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; Woodrow Delaney and his infant brother; Roy Delaney.

His funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from 12 Noon til time of service.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his physicians and their staff, as well as his caregivers at St. Pat’s, for their care during his time of illness.
