Harry Victor Lottinger Jr.

Harry attended Terrebonne High School and Nicholls State University. His desire to learn and master his craft continued throughout his life. He completed 4 levels of electrical and also an instrumentation II class through the National Center for Construction Education and Research and later completed the Louisiana State Board of Home Inspectors course. A true jack of all trades, there was little Harry could not do once he set his mind to it. Whether the task involved electrical work, construction, mechanics, remodeling, or contracting, he had a natural ability to figure things out and get the job done.

Harry was a Louisiana State Licensed Home Inspector for 19 years and was also an electrician. He held FHA/HUD 203(k) and WDIR certifications and worked as a certified consultant. He also served as an electrical instructor and participated in the ABC National Electrical Craft Olympics. Most recently, he received his termite license and certification, another accomplishment in a lifetime characterized by his willingness to learn and take on something new.

Harry was a member of Westlake First Baptist Church and participated in Christian men’s group, “The Tool Shed.” His faith was an important part of his life, and he enjoyed listening to Christian rock as well as good old-fashioned rock and roll.

Away from work, Harry was happiest outdoors and at the lake. He loved bass and sac-a-lait fishing, and he could often be found sitting on the porch at the lake before heading down to the water to fish for a while. He loved working at the camp and was always available when there was a project to tackle. Harry and his wife built a large koi pond with an extensive filtration system, and raising and breeding koi became a true joy for him. He also enjoyed tennis and was an avid Houston Astros and LSU fan.

Above all, Harry was a devoted husband and family man. He shared 27 years with his devoted wife, Loretta Janice Lottinger. Through the good times and the difficult ones, they were partners and best friends who did everything together. Loretta remembers Harry as her helper, her constant companion, and the love of her life. Harry also treasured his role as “Daddy” to their Boston Terrier, Dillon, who held a special place in his heart.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Loretta Janice Lottinger; his son, Kennon Mathew Lottinger; his stepson, Joshua Leonard Basco; his brother, David Lottinger and wife Alayna; and his sisters, Laurie “Lollie” Lottinger Rozas and husband Darren, and Kari Lottinger Barker and husband Chris “CB.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Victor Lottinger Sr. and Claudia Hebert Lottinger; and his stepson, Michael Paul Basco.

The family will welcome the public for visitation at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home in Lake Charles on Saturday, September 5, 2026 from 10am until time of funeral service at 1pm. Interment will follow at Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery.
