

Helen Beatrice “Aunt Bea/Smitty” Smith Smith, age 100, was born in Olla, La., on Feb. 12, 1915. On April 5, 1938, she married Hoyett Smith in Monroe, La., then moved to Lake Charles in 1939 and went to work at The Fair Store on Ryan Street downtown. She retired from The Fair Store after 40 years of working in the boy’s and men’s departments. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for 26 years and was a Greeter for Trinity for 13 years.
She is survived by a brother, Emery Smith from Olla, La.; her family, great-nephew, Guy Fox and wife Lynda and their daughter, Stacie Winters; a great-niece, Karen Cole and her daughters, Brandi Chargois, Erika Chargois and Brea Brinkman; a great-nephew, Mark Fox and wife Joy and their daughter, Misty Ramirez and sons, Marshal Fox and Tyler Fox; a niece-in-law, Sondra Collins Fox. She is also survived by nine great-great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Hoyett L. Smith; her parents, Walter and Kitty Belle Smith of Olla, La.; a brother, Sherman Smith of Great Falls, Mont.; a sister, Eloise Smith Fox of Alexandria, La.; and nephew, Travis Fox of Sulphur, La.
Visitation will commence on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Hixson Funeral Home (Chapel of the Lilies) of Lake Charles from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. The visitation will continue on Thursday at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until Christian Service time at 10 a.m. The Rev. Steve James officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Grand Cove Nursing home, Heart of Hospice or Trinity Baptist Church.
