Ida May Doland

Ida was a member of Bethel Presbyterian and Oak Park Methodist Churches. She lived and grew up in the Thibodeaux, Raceland, Desallemands Villages and Algiers.

She met her husband Tom Doland after WWII in New Orleans and they were married December 1, 1945.

She was a talented, loving, dedicated wife, mother, and friend. She loved sewing, crochet, and knitting, she blessed family and friends with her beautiful work. She loved God and her many church friends and served faithfully teaching Sunday school. Innumerable flowers were supplied on Sunday mornings by her hands. She always had flowers growing all over the yard. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and always a great host to all her children’s friends that loved her. She loved to draw and paint but flower arranging was her favorite. She also loved vacationing in Arkansas, Texas, and New Mexico. She worked at Bealls Department Store where she loved providing customers with the best selections of attire. She kept a simple but attractively decorated home. Everyone felt comfortable and welcome.

She is survived by her husband Tom; children, Ann, Sue, and Sammy and wife Susie; Grandchildren, Kevin banks, Shannon Banks, Stacy Miller, Stephanie Virgadamo, Patricia Paiz; great grandchildren, Thomas, Kevin Jr., Blake, Cassie, Miranda, Zach, Ethan, Samantha, Troy, Trent, Sydnie, Logan, Conner, Erin, Evan, and Caitlin; brothers and sisters, Jessie Brupbacher, Glen Brupbacher, Geraldine Vannay, Betty Ruiz, and Thelma Bernard.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Otto F. and Lydia Brupbacher; brothers and sisters, Orie J. Brupbacher, John "Tibby" Nelson Brupbacher, Otto F. Brupbacher Jr., Clara Belle Dufrene and Ruth Barbara Roy.

Her funeral services will be 2pm Monday, November 19, 2012 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Revs. Steve Wright and Henry Bowden will officiate. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 5pm-9pm and resume Monday from 8am until service time.
