Isaac N. Abshire Jr.

He was born January 6, 1923 in Lake Charles, LA to Isaac and Adele (Andrus) Abshire. He married Pauline Goos and then later Janice Hackett who preceded him in death in 1976. His parents also preceded him in death.

Surviving are his three daughters, Diana (Mark) Weber, Rebecca “Becky” (Wilbur “Joe”) Leleux and Paula Hawes, one step-daughter, Barbara (Ken) Hoffpauir, two step-sons, Bobby and Eddie (Barbara) Hackett, one sister Helen “Tot” Rutherford, 8 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 14 step great-grandchildren and his companion for over 20 years, Wilda Moon.

Isaac served in the U.S. Marine Corp where he received the Bronze Star and was honorably discharged in 1951. He worked as an A Operator with City Service for 33 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am, Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Father Jeff Starkovich will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm with a rosary at 6:00pm and resume Wednesday from 9:30am until time of service at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
