Jan Bushnell Cater

She was a native of Lake Charles, and had lived in Ragley most of her life. She worked as a teacher's aide at South Beauregard School for many years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to give to others. She adored and loved her family immensely.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Cater, Sr. of Ragley; son, Thomas (Rick) and wife Mikele of Williamsburg, Virginia; daughter, Christy Whitaker and husband Waylon of Moss Bluff; two sisters, Melda Thompson and husband Ron of DeRidder, Pat Culton and husband Mark of Moss Bluff; grandchildren, Michael Cater, Evanie Cater, Ellie Cater, Gabriel Cater, Isaac Cater, Kendall Whitaker and Trace Whitaker.

Her funeral will be at 11:00, Thursday, November 14, in Apostolic Temple of Lake Charles. The Rev. Ricky Treece, Rev. Len Whitaker and Rev. Mark Culton will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00pm to 9:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles and resume Thursday from 10:00am until time of service at the church. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley.
