My deepest sympathy to all of you. The pictures are priceless. What a beautiful man and beautiful family. Even though he was quiet and shy (in high school), he certainly left a lasting, loving impression on so many people whose lives he touched in some way. May you all find peace and comfort in knowing how much he was loved.

I will always remember the harrowing story of Jerry, his mother and grandparents during Hurricane Audrey. What an incredible experience for a boy only ten years old. (Incidentally, the story was the subject of an article in the Lake Charles American Press written by my father and republished a few years ago.) I will not be able to attend services because of my family's vulnerability to Covid-19 but my wife, Laura, joins with me in offering sincere condolences to Jerry's family.

It truly saddens my heart to hear of Jerry’s passing. He sure leaves a big spot to fill. His kindness and willingness to help anyway he could when needed speaks volumes about this man. Those that knew him will certainly miss him

I attended South Cameron, graduating in 1965. Jerry Furs was a grade higher. We shared friendship in school and then in life always having wonderful conversations. Jerry and I started writing country songs in 1974 which through the years we garnished 90+ songs. Jerry Furs, not only being a great songwriter was superb and a professional performer as well. He always spoke of his family to me and how they were doing and always asked of my family. He was a friend to everyone, never denying friendship or loyalty to his friends. About 4 months ago he told me about his son, Travis Furs that was gifted in music and songwriting and Jerry told me we would make arrangements so that all three could indulge in songwriting. God had other plans. To his wife, Sharon Savoie Furs and all their children and grandchildren, all of you were very Blessed by God to have Jerry Wayne Furs in your lives; husband, father, grandfather, friend that was caring in every respect. RIP Jerry Wayne Furs
