Joe Michael Price

Funeral services for J. (Joe) Michael Price, 77, will be Sunday, Oct. 2, beginning at 5 p.m. at Hixson’s Funeral Home, 3001 Ryan Street. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m., also at the funeral home.

The services will be officiated by The Rev. John Robert.

Michael died peacefully at home on Tuesday.

He was predeceased by his wife, Pam Watson Price; his parents Joe Armistead and Helen Managan Price; one sister, Mary Margaret Price, and his dog, Jocko.

Michael was born April 12, 1939 in Coushatta, La. He was a 1957 graduate of Coushatta High School. He attended Northwestern State University, then transferred to McNeese State University where he graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

Michael then joined International Business Machines (IBM) as a systems analyst soon after IBM began building mainframe computers. He left IBM to open his own computer stores, Computer Concepts, with stores in Lake Charles and Beaumont.

After selling the stores, he continued as a systems analyst of his own company, Systems & Software Technologies, until his retirement.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Walker and her husband Keith; and two grandsons, John Walker and Michael Fontenot.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to the American Cancer Society.
