John Arthur Witherspoon

John was born September 16, 1942 to Theodore Roosevelt Witherspoon and Alice Ruth Melton Witherspoon in Greenville, Mississippi. He enjoyed spending time with his family and pets. John was a loyal employee of Ohmstede Inc. as a Journeyman Machinist, where he retired after 25 years. On his off-time John enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading western books, watching movies and talking about history and politics. He served in the Mississippi National Guard for 8 years.

John is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Witherspoon.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Polly Marie Wrenn Witherspoon; sons, Michael Arthur and wife Candie Witherspoon of Iowa, LA, Joseph Andrew and wife Bonnie Jean Witherspoon of Kaysville, UT; daughters, Stacy Christine Lyons and husband Chris of Sulphur, LA, Melissa Marie Morris and husband Scott of Dequincy, LA; 13 grandchildren, Sarah, Ashley, Elora, Michelle, Holly, Fiona, Allan, Morgan, John, Blake, Cecilia, Madison and Jesse; brother, Oscar Thomas Witherspoon and wife Francis of Arcola, MS; sister, Ruth Wright and husband John of Pensacola, FL; sister-in-law Kay Witherspoon of Edmond, OK.

A memorial service will be held Monday, March 4, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 4700 Sale Ln, Lake Charles, LA. at 11am with a gathering for friends and family at 10am.
