He was born May 23, 1931 to parents Joseph Amar "Jim" and Edna Annie Savoie Baccigalopi in Creole, LA. Joseph moved to Big Lake after hurricane Rita, where he resided until he left this earthly world. This September Swinford and Lorraine would have been married 70 years.
Swinford built and remodeled many homes in Cameron Parish as well as other areas also. He loved taking grandkids to the Tarpon Frezzo for ice cream and arcade games. He was happiest in his shop, especially with the grand sons by his side.
He always was willing to sit with grandkids and teach about his trade/livelihood as a self taught master carpenter.
He was a man with unconditional love for his family, and protective of his grandchildren. He was known for always having a smile on his face.
He was preceded in death by his son Nick Baccigalopi, parents, and in-laws Jasper and Gladys Babineaux Ogea.
He is survived by his loving wife Lorraine Theresa Ogea Baccigalopi, his children; Joel (Sherry) Baccigalopi, Susan B Hebert (Donald), Doyle (Nila) Baccigalopi, Roger (Angel) Baccigalopi and Esther Baccigalopi, his grandchildren; Angela Baccigalopi-Borrowdale, Hannah Baccigalopi-McMillan, Chuck and Dwayne Benoit, Blake and Mark Baccigalopi, Erica Baccigalopi-Bradley, Theresa Baccigalopi-Menard, Tony Baccigalopi, Alicia Baccigalopi-Franks, Mathew Baccigalopi, Savannah Baccigalopi-Miller and Kendra Baccigalopi-Lewis, his daughter-in-law; Renee Baccigalopi, As well as multiple step grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren which he loved as much as his own.
Pallbearers for funeral services will be Chuck and Dwayne Benoit, T.J Menard, Jerad Bradley, Jasper Ogea and Tony Baccigalopi.
The family will welcome the public for visitation Sunday, July 16, 2023 at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home from 5pm until 8pm with a rosary held at 6pm. The visitation will resume at 8am Monday, July 17, 2023 until time of Funeral services at 11am held at J. E. Hixson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grandlake-Sweetlake Cemetery in Bell City, LA
