Cameron - Joseph Esly "Sip" Duhon, 92, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013, in his residence. Sip was a man’s man; he loved not only his family but, his many friends. Everyone knew him and he knew everyone. Very few people knew his real name because he always went by his nickname "Sip". Before going in the Army he was in the CC Camp in Hackberry. He was a United States Army WWII veteran, who served from 1942-46 as a Master Sgt. with a tour in Europe and then the Philippines. Sip traveled through the Panama Canal and served with both General Patton and General Eisenhower. During this time he was an engineer bridge builder and also the cook. He came from a large family and his four brothers served during WWII also. He worked for Crain Brothers at age 61 and had to retire due to an accident. Sip was always busy fixing or tinkering on something but, always had a job. He made use of everything and was a real fixer-upper. He worked all day on the job then came home and worked some more. He lived and loved life to the fullest. He was a wonderful husband of 67 years. He was a good and patient daddy to his children, although they certainly tried his patience. At the age of 85 he got his first riding lawn mower. He definitely will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Ina Duhon; three sons, Esly "EJ" Duhon of Reeves, Phillip Ray Duhon of Center Point, and Albert Melvin Duhon and wife, Debbie of Sweetlake; two daughters, Elaine Picou of Cameron and Helen Grady and husband, Paul of Lakeland; one brother, Paul Duhon of Humble, TX; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (Belzire) Duhon; three sisters, Louvenia Broussard, Idel Duhon, and Allie Vincent; three brothers, Odis, Odea, and Ogea Duhon; two grandchildren, Charles and Natisha Duhon. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles from 3-8pm Sunday, December 29, with a rosary at 6pm and will resume Monday 8-9am at funeral home. Sip's Life Celebration service will be 11:00am Monday, December 30, in Our Lady Star of The Sea Catholic Church of Cameron, LA. Mnsgr. Harry Greig will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady Star of The Sea Catholic Cemetery. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.

It is my deepest regret I was unable to attend Mr. SIPs rosary or funeral. He always made me smile. Anytime I was out in the yard, he would holler at me and wave. Mr. SIP made it easier not being back on little chenier. I know him and Daddy are together in heaven sharing CC camp stories.
