

Larry was born in Shaw Mississippi. He then moved to Cameron to work and that’s where he found the love of his life of 55 years, Verna “Blackie” Taylor of Kaplan, La.
He was a Veteran of the U. S Army. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. He owned several businesses; Taylor’s Welding Service, Cameron Motel 1 and Restaurant and Cameron Motel 2 and 2 trailer parks. He was also a part owner of the Cameron Barge Terminal. He was a member of the Lions Club and loved the outdoors.
Larry and Verna moved to Lacassine after his retirement. They loved to travel in their motor home and go to Blue Grass Festivals. In his travels he made numerous friends. He loved his children very much and loved to spend time with his grandsons and great-grandsons. He also loved family gatherings and making big pots of gumbo.
He is survived by his wife, Verna “Blackie” Taylor; son, Bradley and wife Angie Taylor of Woodlawn, LA; daughter, Debra Dupuy and husband Irvin of Woodlawn, LA; sisters, Barbara Cochran of Marigold MS; Peggy Shelton and husband Floyd of Brownsville TN; Carol Burell and husband Dennis of Shaw MS; grandsons, Derrick LaFosse and wife Menieca, Robert LaFosse and wife Crystal, Cameron Taylor, Everett Taylor, great grandsons, Lance LaFosse, Lane LaFosse and Grayson LaFosse. He is preceded in death by his sons, Larry Keith Taylor and Glyn Allen Taylor, parents, Everett and Lorena Taylor, brother, Douglas Taylor and sister, Mary Ann Rigginbach.
His service will be 2:00pm, Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh. Rev. Wayen Dartez will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00am until 9:00pm and resume Wednesday from 9:00am until time of service. Burial will be at Lacassine Cemetery.
