

She was born and lived in Hayes, LA until she met, and at the age of 15, married her husband of 55 years, Harold Delaney. Together they made their home and raised their family in Grand Lake, LA.
After retiring from Lakeside National Bank, Lavonna worked as a dedicated caregiver for the elderly in her community.
Always fun-loving, she loved dancing to Elvis and Zydeco music. Some of her favorite pastimes were embroidery, arts and crafts, recipe collecting and shopping.
Her children and grandchildren have fond memories of her favorite Easter tradition
"pocking eggs" and her elaborate dress-up tea parties.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Delaney; parents, Allee and Norma Sonnier and two sisters, Virginia Anderson and Maedelle Reddin.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicky Shackelford of Lake Charles, Carol Savoy of Grand Lake, Donna Perkins and husband, Randy of Moss Bluff; brother, Joe Sonnier of Orange, TX; sisters, Anita Midkiff of Lake Charles and Wilma Dufford of Orlando, FL; as well as 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Chaplain Paul Estes will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery.
