Leon was born on May 13, 1957 to parents Billy and Annie May Bostick in Creole, LA. He grew up with a love of hunting and fishing, and was very true to his roots in Louisiana. He spent his whole life in his home state. He was known to be a very hard worker and loved to travel the world while working offshore on the rigs. He married Sybil Porche in 1986 and remained so until her passing in 2022.
Leon was a man of few words and when he did have something to say it was always a off colored joke. When he wasn't offshore, he was running trot lines, charter fishing with his best friend, Lee, better known as "The Master-Baiter", hunting, playing with his grandchildren, and doing a honey-do chore list for Sybil. He was a jack of all trades and could do anything. Wasn't a fan of electrical work, but could make it work in a pinch. He also carried a love of carpentry. He was good at sitting on his porch, just watching the grass grow. He was a simple man and lived a simple life.
He is welcomed by those who passed before him are his parents, wife, Sybil Higginbotham; brother, Willis Higginbotham; niece, Heidi Broussard; and best friends, Donald Whittle, Lee Wright and Tony Porche (Sho Nuff').
Those left to cherish his memory, are his son,Jedediah Higginbotham and fiancé Sheryl Hoffpauir of Many, LA; daughters, Jasmyn Marcel of Houma, LA, Shayne Inness and wife Ashley of Florida, and Amanda Verdin and fiance Jacob Porche of DeQuincy, LA; grandsons, Lucus Marcel and William Marcel of Houma, LA, Trevor Verdin of DeQuincy, LA; granddaughters, Electra Verdin of DeQuincy, LA and Nevaeh Porche of DeQuincy, LA; sister, Tammy Broussard and her husband, David; and a brother, Rocky Bostick.
