

Arrangements undeCREOLE- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Creole, Louisiana for Leslie “Malcolm” Savoie, 85, who died at home on Saturday, December 5, 2015. Reverend Archimandrite Herbert J. May, J.C.L. will be the celebrant.
Mr. Savoie was born on July 8, 1930, in Creole, Louisiana and was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Creole during his entire lifetime. He retired from Chevron USA in 1985, and represented the citizens of Creole on the Cameron Parish Police Jury from 1996 through 1999. Mr. Savoie was a founding member of the Creole Nature Trail and a lifelong alligator hunter, serving as a Nuisance Alligator Hunter for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, until he retired from that position at age 79. He is best remembered by many for the loving long-term care that he provided to his wife Alva Mae, prior to her death in 2010. Mr. Savoie loved all things outdoors including hunting, fishing and crabbing, as well as watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren compete in sports, rodeos, pageants, and livestock shows. He truly enjoyed cooking for and hosting large gatherings of family and friends at his home, many who enjoyed at least one meal a week at his home.
Those left with a lifetime of memories are Mr. Savoie’s two daughters, Thaunia “Thunder” Hardie and husband, Harold “Buddy” of Cameron, Mitzi Garry and her husband Roy of Cameron; son, Terrance Savoie and wife, Crystal of Creole; sister Bennie Reon, brother-in-law and sister Robert “Brother” and Dorothy “Bobbie” Landry, brother and sister-in-law Lionel and Sylvia Savoy; 12 grandchildren, Derek Hardie of Grand Lake, Belinda Miltenberger and husband, Robert of Cameron, Brian Hardie and wife, Cherie of Creole, Jared Jones of Longville, Leslie Trahan and husband, Jerry of Little Chenier, Blane Savoie and wife Devaney of Moss Bluff, Bonnye Savoie of Lake Charles, Krissi Jo Moore and husband Griffin of Lake Charles, Chris Savoie and wife, Heather of Grand Lake, Dusty Savoie and wife, Whitney of Moore Haven, Florida, Scott “Pooter” Savoie and wife, Amanda of Creole, Ty Savoie of Creole and his fiancée Kristin Broussard; 24 great grandchildren, Jolie and Hudson Hardie, Gannon and Jacee Miltenberger, Morgan, Allie and Brynn Hardie, Larissa and Jake Jones, Grant, Madison and McKenzie Trahan, Trystan, Trynity, and Debra Gayle and Trenton Savoie, Brycen, Anna and Harrison Savoie, Avery Savoie, Brylee and Brant Savoie, Finn and Lillian Moore, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mr. Savoie was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Alva Mae Savoie, his son, Kimdell “Kim” Lane Savoie, parents Ozeme and Margaret Savoy, sister Bernice Mudd and brother Harold Savoy, and father-in-law and mother-in-law Bud and Allie Murphy.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation beginning at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 7, 2015, and throughout the day and evening on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, as well as prior to Mass on Wednesday. Holy Rosaries will be prayed at 6:00 p.m., on Monday, December 7, 2015, and at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, all at Sacred Heart of Jesus Life Center in Creole. The family will host a dinner for all family and friends on Wednesday at the Life Center, immediately following the burial in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.
Special thanks are extended to Dr. Hollen, Dr. Rushing and staff of South Cameron Memorial Hospital, Nedia Trahan with DeQuincy Home Health, and Dr. Michael Bergeron, Pam, Angelica Jade and Alsion with Medical Oncology Associates.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that Masses be offered in Mr. Savoie’s memory.
