

Faithful to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Lettie Judith Abercrombie Meddows, 82, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 in a local care center. Born in Lake Charles, September 19, 1934 to Anna Ruth and James Wayne Abercrombie. She was raised in Lake Charles and was a graduate of LaGrange High School where she was a Gatorette and member of the LaGrange Chorus.
On January 16, 1959, she married the love of her life, Donald F Meddows at Glad Tidings Church. Her passion, as an active member at Glad Tidings was singing in the choir. Also, at the age of 18, she became their first church organist.
Lettie had many interests, she was a master seamstress, a world traveler, shopping at flea markets and thrift stores, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Blessed to cherish her memory is daughter, Susan Meddows McMichael and husband Keith of Moss Bluff, three sons, Donald W Meddows and wife Michele of Breeze, Illinois, Kevin N Meddows and wife Charlotte of Baton Rouge and Scott A Meddows of Lafayette. Six grandchildren; Joel and David McMichael, Kyle, Natalie and Nathaniel Nichols and Rachel Loeschen and three great-grandchildren. Also, her brother, Clark Abercrombie and wife Delanie and sister-in-law, Pattie Abercrombie Stevens.
Preceded in death are her parents, husband, Donald F Meddows, daughter, Lynn Meddows Nichols and brother, Wayne “Bokey” Abercrombie.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 4pm to 7pm at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 9am until time of service. A funeral service celebrating Lettie’s life will immediately follow visitation at 10am in the funeral home chapel. Rev Gary Evers will officiate.
