

Lewis Calvin John Granger, 77, of Lake Charles passed away May 26, 2017. He was born in 1939 to the late Eual and Zaiday Granger in Mamou, LA. He was a proud Veteran having served 3 tours in Vietnam. He married the love of his life, Shirley, in 1964 and together they had 40 years of love and laughter.
Lewis’s first language was Cajun French and he shared stories of his Cajun roots throughout his life. He loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, including seining. Lewis loved to cook and welcomed many to his table for Gumbo and conversation. He had a tremendous love of family and they filled his heart with joy and doted on his grandchildren. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree and he served as the Grand Knight in the 1980’s. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed spending time with and sharing stories with other members. Lewis retired from the City of Lake Charles as a Supervisor for Public Works after 25 years in 2014.
Lewis is preceded in death by his wife; Shirley Granger. Left to cherish his memory is his children; Thomas Granger, Tammy Domingue, John Granger, Danielle Allen, 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and many extended family and friends. He will forever be remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation to be held Monday, May 29, 2017 from 5-8:00 pm with Rosary Service at 6:00 pm at Hixson Funeral Home, Lake Charles. Resuming at 9:00 am Tuesday until Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am at Our Lady Queen of Heaven. Burial to follow at Highland Memory Park.
