She graduated from Lake Charles High School and from McNeese State University with a major in early childhood education. She taught at Mossville Elementary and Dolby Elementary. Linda loved her students whom she called her "little friends". She taught school for over 40 years.
In her youth and most of her adult life, Linda was an active church member. She loved to sing and was a member of both youth and adult choirs.
Linda is survived by her brothers Leon C. "Lonnie" Miller, Jr. (Ann), and Kenneth E. Miller (Melissa), niece Erin M. Burge, and nephews, Drew Miller, Forrest Miller, Rafe Ferguson, Todd Ferguson, Ryan Ferguson, Steven Ferguson, Phillip Ferguson, and Andrew Ferguson; and a host of great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mark Ferguson and her parents Leon and Peggy Miller.
The family would like to thank Linda's loyal group of educator friends, the staff at Brookdale Senior Living Residence, and All Saints Hospice for their love and care.
A Celebration of Life Service for Linda will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at First United Methodist Church in Lake Charles, La. with Pastor Weldon Bares officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Interment will be at Prien Memorial Park under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
