A native of Mamou, she resided in Lake Charles, Dry Creek and Houston, Texas. She was a graduate of Mamou High School and obtained her beautician license at Jane Demmon School of Beauty. She retired as a Math and Computer Lab teacher from Eastwood Elementary. Linda was an active member of Immaculate Conception Cathedral, St. Jude Catholic Church, St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and was awarded Daughter of the Year. She also served as secretary to the Mardi Gras Krewe of Twelfth Night Revelers and was a member of the National Cattle Women's Association. Linda had many talents including crocheting, ceramics, and oil painting. She enjoyed dancing, water activities, camping, reading, cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends. She was a world traveler and exuded sophistication with her grace and style. She loved her family deeply and was a devout Catholic. Linda was a faithful servant of God and will always be remembered as a beautiful, loving person.
Linda was preceded in death by husband, Joseph Scimemi, husband, Gene Juranka, her parents, Odius and Lula Guillory, brothers, Isom Guillory (Luther), sister, Clara Bell Manuel (Pershing and Anthony), and brother, Robert Guillory (Bertie).
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Samuel Scimemi (Rosie), Philip Scimemi (Katarina), Peter Scimemi (Mary), and Rosanna Scimemi Martin (Terry); Grandchildren, Courtney Scimemi, Alexis Thigpen, Aras Scimemi, Hunter Thigpen, Jacob Scimemi, Collin Thigpen, Isabella Scimemi, Brooke Martin, Tyler Martin, and Cody Martin; great-grandchildren, Paul, Sophia, Declan, Mavis, Lilleigh, Macie, Colt, and Ryker; ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at J.E. Hixson Funeral Home in the Chapel of Peace with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday at 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Cathedral with Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau officiating. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Immaculate Conception Cathedral, St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeRidder, LA, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Houston, TX and EWTN Global Catholic Television Network.
