Mrs. Louvella Poullard Green was born to Mr. Azenor Poullard and Mrs. Lonias Simien Poullard on August 25, 1936 in Eunice, Louisiana. She accepted Christ at an early age and spent her lifetime serving the Lord.
On February 20, 1954, Louvella was united in holy matrimony to Vernice Green, Sr. and to this union eight children were born.
In 1957, Louvella and her husband, Vernice, moved to Lake Charles and united with Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Nathaniel P. Jones. Mrs. Green was a faithful and dedicated member of Zion Tabernacle and served as deaconess. She was devoted to helping young people and assisted in many capacities with various youth organizations of the church.
Mrs. Green united with Mount Moriah Baptist Church in 1978, after her husband, the Reverend Vernice Green, Sr. built and became pastor of Mount Moriah. She worked very diligently in the church serving as treasurer for a very long period of time and as deaconess until her death. Always showing her love and compassion for young people, she was actively involved with Vacation Bible School and the Area-Wide Baptist Youth Week Observance, where she was committee counselor of the finance committee for more than twenty years.
For twenty-five years, Mrs. Green was employed by Calcasieu Parish School Board and continued to serve the children and educators of Calcasieu Parish, through her volunteer services, for many years after her retirement. Although she volunteered in many school activities, her very special passion was that of band booster, serving as band booster mother to many students of the Washington Marion Magnet High School Band. She enjoyed working with the students while her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were members of the band and even during the years when she did not have family members in the band.
Mrs. Green, a constant and sincere source of goodness, was a very virtuous, kind-hearted lady, who was loved and respected by all who knew her. Always concerned about others, she willingly assisted anyone who required her services, continuously gave to others, and touched many lives during her lifetime. Her ever-present smile and cheerful attitude will continue to live in the hearts and minds of all who were blessed by knowing her.
Her parents and her husband of 57 years, Dr. Vernice Green Sr., preceded her in death.
Mrs. Louvella Green leaves as a loving legacy five daughters: Armajean Green Declouet, Louanna Green-Taylor, Dolores G. Boyce (Bongee), Linda Green Miles (Larry), and Velvet G.
