

Welsh - Mack Joseph Manuel, 80, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 in Houston, Texas.
Mack was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Edward and Edith Manuel on April 16, 1934. He was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Welsh. He worked in the lumber sales business until his retirement. He went on to own and operate a tractor business. The love he had for his family was overwhelming and he enjoyed spending time with all of them. Mack was proud of his Cajun Heritage and enjoyed playing music. He was a member of the Cajun French Music Association of Eunice, LA. He has had the privilege of being the current leader of Mack Manuel and The Lake Charles Ramblers Cajun Band. He loved to cook and tell people how to cook. He never met a stranger and was loved by many.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Nola Myers Manuel; sons, Billy Manuel and wife Barbara of Winnie, TX and Lynn Manuel and wife Brandi; daughters, Elaine LaVergne and husband Mike of Lake Charles, LA, Renee Moore and husband Richard of Choupiqué, LA, Lori Lowe and husband John of Winnie, TX and Doris Mudd and husband Greg of Holmwood, LA; brothers, Jerry and wife Dana Manuel and Ted and wife Gloria Manuel; sister, Alice LaRocca; twenty-six grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Edith Manuel; brothers, Edgar, Edwin and Vern Manuel; sisters, Beulah Broussard, Bernice Young, Edna Broussard,Virginia LaRocca and Pearl Manuel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 15 at 11am at St. Margaret Catholic Church. The Rev. Bill Miller will officiate. Burial will be at Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly, Louisiana. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 14, from 4pm to 9pm with a rosary at 6pm at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation will resume Thursday morning from 8:30am till time of service. Serving as pallbearers will be Kylor Wilber, Mark LaVergne, Matthew LaVergne, Mack LaVergne, T-Bleu LeBleu, Zebber LeBleu, Courtney Lowe, Jacob Boudoin and Ty Manuel.
