Marie "Vernis" Theriot Giroir, age 86, of Deridder, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2018. She was born September 10, 1932 in Erath, Louisiana.

Marie was a native of Cameron who loved making crafts, crocheting, and traveling.

She was preceded in death by husband, Andre Joseph Giroir, Sr., parents, Seville and Theresa Gary Theriot, brothers, Fredman, Dallas, Terry, and Leslie Theriot.

Those left behind to cherish her memories are son, Andre Joseph Giroir, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Big Lake, LA; daughter, Anna Hunt of Slidell, LA; daughter, Sylvia Cormier and husband, Lee of Ragley, LA; daughter, Theresa Abrahamsen and husband, Stanley of Lake Charles, LA; daughter, Sherry DeBarge of Grand Lake, LA; son, Samuel Giroir and wife, Collettia of Westlake, LA; daughter, Monica Gripp and husband, Charles of Iowa, LA; daughter, Katrina Giroir of Bundicks Lake, LA; 24 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 6 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2018 at Hixson Funeral Chapel in Lake Charles. Elder Lee Cormier will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until service time on Friday.
