Mary Ann Broussard

Mary died peacefully Monday, June 19th in Lake Charles.

Mary was born to Raoul and Nora Matte on July 23, 1952 in Lake Charles. She lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She worked for several financial institutions including City Financial and Jeff Davis Bank as a collections officer for over forty years but the job that brought her the most pleasure was being a mother and grandmother.

Mary instilled a lot of joy and love in all those she left behind. Her two sons, David Broussard Jr. of Baton Rouge and Jeremy Broussard of Lake Charles; her grandsons Riley and August Broussard; her brother Leon Matte; her daughter-in-law Leah Broussard; her sister-in-laws Karen Matte, Janine Falgoust and Ellen Broussard; her brother-in-law Rob Broussard; her mother-in-law Waldean Broussard and many loving nieces and nephews all of Lake Charles. She was preceded in death by her father Raoul Matte; her mother Nora Poole Matte Aguillard; her stepfather Emile Aguillard; her brother Murrel Matte all of Lake Charles.

If you knew Moonie you would know that she lived for her grandsons Riley and August Blu, she cherished every moment she had with them and spoiled them every time she had a chance. They filled her heart with joy and “loved them boys to the moon and back” as she would often say. Moonie loved to laugh and spend time with her family and friends and believed that the only thing that matters in this world is the people that you love.
