

On August 14, 2011, Mary Alice Phillips Grice went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born March 2, 1934 in Pleasant Hill, LA. To L.O. Phillips and Mamie Davis Phillips who taught her to love God’s Word.
After receiving a degree from Northwestern State University, she taught school in Caddo Parish and later in Calcasieu Parish when she married William Clyde Grice. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her daughter, Alison Gael. She is survived by two sons, Hugh Sebron Grice and Shannon Ira Grice, and five grandchildren who are Holly Grice, Mary Grice, Heather Floyd Rodrique, Rachael Floyd Gentry, and John William Floyd. Her great grandchildren are Kara Boudreaux, Noah and Samuel Gentry, Donovan Rodrigue, and Ahlrick William Floyd. Also surviving her, are her brother, Hugh Lynn Phillips, and sister, Cynthia Phillips, Rebecca Duvic, and Rosemarie George.
Mary Alice was an intelligent and beautiful woman who lived her life with grace and love. She was a warm and loving friend, sister, mother, grandmother. We will miss her greatly until we see her again. The family wishes to express our gratitude to Hospice in His Care of Baton Rouge.
The funeral will be at Spring Ridge Baptist Church with burial at Spring Ridge Cemetery on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and will resume Thursday at the church at 12 Noon til time of service.
