Maureen Elizabeth Walsh Roe, 74, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, April 5, 2024. A graduate of Redemptorist High School, Maureen lived most of her life in Baton Rouge before relocating to Lake Charles to be near family.
Maureen was a parishioner of St. Theodore Catholic Church in Moss Bluff where she was active in the Catholic Daughters. She volunteered for many years at Catholic Charities of SWLA where she coordinated the Christmas Senior Adoption Program. She also enjoyed her time as a member of the Lake Area Ballet Theater Company sewing team.
Maureen is survived by her son, Joey (Christi) Jarreau; beloved grandchildren, Emma and Adam; brother, Stephen J. Walsh; sisters-in-law, Karen Noto and Mary Ann Walsh; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and very special friends, “The Aunts” and the “Canasta Ladies.”
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Roe; mother, Garnet Walsh; and brother, Frederick E. Walsh, Sr.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Michael Broussard and his staff for his years of care and the staff of Grand Cove Nursing Center for the care and compassion in her final months.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 9:30 a.m. and Rosary at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theodore Catholic Church, 785 Sam Houston Jones Parkway, Lake Charles, LA 70611. Rev. Joseph Caraway will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities of SWLA or Lake Area Ballet Theater.
