Myrtle Jewel Soileau

Myrtle Jewel Napier Soileau, age 71 died peacefully on January 8, 2013 at her home in Lake Charles, LA after a struggle with lung cancer. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through her journey. Even as a child, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gifts of joy and kindness, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten.

Myrtle was born March 30, 1941 in Stiltner, West Virginia, the daughter of Johnie and Virgie Napier.

She is survived by her former husband Joseph R. Soileau Sr. of Lake Charles, LA; daughter Sonya Soileau and M.H., son Joseph R. Soileau Jr.of Lake Charles, daughter Christa D. Soileau Cormier of Lake Charles, son John A. Soileau and Ana of San Antonio, TX ; brother-in-law, Linel of Lavalette, West Virginia and 9 grandchildren.

3 brothers: Frank and wife Doris of Wayne, West Virginia, Harvey and wife Doris of Kenova, West Virginia, Golden and wife Christine of Huntington, West Virginia.

2 sisters: Magdalene Fry (husband Willis (deceased) of South Point, Ohio, Tempa Farley and husband Lenville of Kenova, West Virginia.

27 nieces and nephews, 57 great nieces and nephews, and 36 great/ great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, Johnie and Virgin (Frazier) Napier of Huntington, WV; 2 brothers: Johnie, Jr wife Jessie; Callaway, wife Evelyn ;1 sister, Thena Adkins.

Visitation information for friends and family of Myrtle Soileau: There will be a Funeral Service with a Rosary at Hixson Funeral Home 3001 Ryan Street, Lake Charles, LA on Thursday, January 10, 2013. Visitation will begin at 5:00-8:00 pm with the Rosary at 6:00 pm and resume Friday 9am until service time.

The funeral will be presided by Pastor Marvin Durgan at Hixson Funeral Home on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers include: Joseph Soileau Jr., John Soileau, Nikolas Cormier, Seth Soileau, Josh Soileau, and Matthew Cormier
