Nedia Ann Trahan, 76, of Cameron passed away peacefully on the morning of September 2nd surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Port Barre, Louisiana on March 29, 1949 to the late Roy and Ruby Hebert.
She graduated from South Cameron High School in 1967, where she was proudly crowned Homecoming Queen. Later in life she decided to further her education and graduated from McNeese State University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She worked many years for Dequincy Home Health. She was a caring and compassionate nurse who loved her patients dearly. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Cameron, LA; where she was involved in the Catholic Daughters and Alter Society.
She and her husband “Poochie” welcomed three sons: Brian, Timmy and Jon Jon into their lives. She was a devoted wife and mother and opened her home to all. Her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; who were the pride of her life. She took such joy in watching them grow. Instilling in them a love for life, music, cooking, art, sewing and gardening. “Nene” was known for her delicious meals that she lovingly prepared for her family and friends. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and laughter. Nene was also a very talented artist. Her portraits of family and friends are greatly treasured possessions. Nene found beauty in everything around her and taught her family to see the wonder in the world around us and to always have faith in God.
Nedia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, “Poochie” Trahan, son Timothy Trahan, sisters Patsy Payne and Druscilla Aubey and nephew Christopher Hebert.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are son, Brian Trahan and wife, Dayna of Long Beach, MS; son, Jonathan "Jon Jon" Trahan and wife, Becky of Sweet Lake, LA; six grandchildren, Sadie, Gabrielle, Beau, Laura, Macy, and Sophie; three great-grandsons, Cooper, Emmett, and Charles; brothers John Allen Hebert and wife, Gwen of Lake Charles, La; Don Hebert and wife, Caroline of Scott, La; Keith Hebert and wife, Rosario of Lake Charles, La; and Cedric Hebert of Cameron, La; brother-in-law, James Payne of Toledo Bend, La; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Heart of Hospice, especially nurse Rachel for taking such good care of her during her final days.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at J. E. Hixson Funeral Home in the Chapel of Lilies with a Rosary being prayed at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Hall in Creole with Rev. V. Wayne LeBleu officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church Cemetery in Cameron. Pallbearers will be Brian Trahan, Jonathan Trahan, Joel Aubey, Patrick Hebert, James Hebert, Joshua Francis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Payne, Chris Payne, Derrick Hebert, Paul Hebert, Hunter Dore, Jacob LaBove, T-Brian Trahan, and Addis Doucet.
