Phyllis Carol Savoie Tarkington, 61, of Lake Charles, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at her residence. She was born on August 24, 1957 in Lake Charles to her parents, James and Cecile. She started working as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal service in 1978 and retired from there in 2008, after 30 years of service. She loved attending the Renaissance Festival, which is held in October. Phyllis loved going to the casino, fishing, and being on the water. She also loved being with her dog "Nero".
She is survived by the father of her children, Terry Tarkington of Lake Charles; two sons, Jeremy Tarkington and wife Mandy of Lake Charles, James Tarkington of Hyattsville, Maryland; her mother; two brothers, James O. Savoie and wife Madeline of Lake Charles, Dennis Savoie of Lake Charles; along with three grandchildren, Emma Tarkington, Elizabeth Tarkington, and Andrew Tarkington.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her fiance', Terry Landry and father, James A. Savoie.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles with Father Samuel Orsot officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a Rosary at 6:00pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday, from 9:00am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of the Animal Rescue Services.
