Randy Lavoi, 74, of Sulphur, Louisiana, passed away on May 30, 2026. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on October 10, 1951, Randy lived a life marked by hard work, generosity, and a deep love for family, friends, and the outdoors.
Randy graduated from LaGrange High School before pursuing higher education. He earned a bachelor's degree in geology and later returned to college to fulfill his passion for helping others, obtaining his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, formerly known as Northeastern State University.
A respected pharmacist and entrepreneur, Randy owned and operated Lane's Pharmacy in Vinton, Louisiana, where he faithfully served his community for many years. His business acumen extended beyond pharmacy, as he also owned Randy's Vinton Hardware and was involved in several other ventures throughout his life.
Randy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Deirdre Lavoi.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Miranda Lavoi; his son, Jeremey Lavoi and wife Abby; his granddaughter, Lily Lavoi; his stepdaughter, Lee Leleux; and his "daughter of the heart," Theresa Loomis. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
An outdoorsman through and through, Randy found joy in fishing, hunting, boating, and spending time on the water. He was known for organizing memorable fishing trips and gatherings that brought family and friends together. He loved baseball, detective novels, traveling, and entertaining, but perhaps his greatest passion was cooking.
Proud of his Sicilian heritage, Randy learned to cook from his grandmother and became renowned among family and friends for his exceptional Cajun and Italian cuisine. His meals brought people together, and those fortunate enough to sit at his table never forgot the experience. One of his proudest accomplishments was catering his son's wedding in California, creating a feast that guests continued to talk about years later.
Above all, Randy was devoted to his family. His children remember him as a loving father who was always willing to lend a hand and create adventures, whether fishing the marshes of Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes or sharing life's lessons along the way. His granddaughter brought him tremendous pride and happiness, and he cherished every moment spent with her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Inspired Living and Southern Grace Hospice for the compassion, kindness, and care they provided during Randy's final days.
Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Randy's life at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home. Visitation from 10:00 am on Saturday, June 27, with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Randy's honor to the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation.
Randy's legacy of friendship, generosity, hard work, and love for family will live on in the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
