Raymond Lee Atkinson

Raymond Lee Atkinson passed away on March 8, 2026, in East Texas, at the age of 90. He was born in DeRidder on August 16, 1935 to Robert and Helen Atkinson. He was a resident of Lake Charles for over 50 years.

He is survived by his two sons, Raymond E. Atkinson (Debbie) and Thomas H. Atkinson (Shannon); six grandchildren, Anna Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Karly Atkinson, Nick Atkinson, and Ashlyn Atkinson; five great grandchildren, Alyssa Mann, Charlie Slay, Jr., Letty Slay, Ally Johnson, and Carol Rose Johnson; great great grandchild, Evelyn "Evie" Mann.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Atkinson; sister, Ruby Atkinson.

Raymond worked at PPG for 30 years as a rigger. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He loved working in his yard. He was a quiet man but was strong willed and kind hearted. He truly loved spending time with his family and taking his wife out to eat.

The family requests visiting hours be observed at Hixson Funeral Home on Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visiting hours will resume on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 8:00 AM until services at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
