Thelma "Tillie" R. Leonards

Tillie was born in Frey, LA and lived in Holmwood since 1954. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church Ladies Auxiliary and Altar Society, Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Daughters, Holmwood Rosary Group and the Cowbells. She was maternal mother to one but a mother to brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. To her grandchildren they would say she wasn't a typical "grandmother" but very unique and special in every way.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Norbert Leonards and wife, Vickie; four brothers, Robert Zaunbrecher and wife, Claudette, Stanley Zaunbrecher, Rodney Zaunbrecher and wife, Elaine and Butch Zaunbrecher; seven sisters, Margaret Zaunbrecher Regan and husband, Larry, Joann Zaunbrecher Meyer, Helen Zaunbrecher Thevis, Laura Zaunbrecher Bellard, Jeanette Zaunbrecher Holtzapple, Frances (Teenie) Zaunbrecher Fruge and Edna Mae Zaunbrecher Leger and husband, Mike; one sister-in-law, Helen M. Zaunbrecher; four grandchildren, Jason and wife, Carley, Jamie and wife, Sarah, Nicholas and wife, Melissa, Sara Beth Ellis and husband, Blaine; great-grandchildren, Grant, Reid, Kate, Jace, Katherine, Jude, Claire, Gabe, Lyla, Tyler, Grady and “Baby Tillie” that will join us in October.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Leonards; parents, N.C. and Josephine Zaunbrecher; two brothers, Lawrence and Louis Zaunbrecher.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am Monday, September 2, in St John Vianney Catholic Church, Bell City, LA. Visitation is from 4-9pm Sunday, September 1, in Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles with a rosary at 6:30pm and will resume Monday 8am until service.
