Dean was a native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, Texas. He dedicated many years of service to the U.S. Postal Service before retiring in 2013. A proud U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam, Dean carried a deep sense of patriotism throughout his life.
Dean found his greatest joy in spending time with his beloved dogs, “Big Boy” and “Rowdy”. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and riding 4-wheelers whenever he had the chance. He also had a passion for travel and enjoyed exploring the United States, often taking the scenic route and making special stops at beaches along the way. Dean appreciated the simple pleasures in life, including classic rock music and a good cup of coffee.
He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, love of the outdoors, devotion to his pets, and the many memories he created with family and friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Shannon McSwain of Lake Charles; his son, Jason Knox and wife, Sabrina of Trinity, North Carolina; and bonus daughters, Tammy Spell of Lake Charles and Ashli Acevedo Spell of Lumberton, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvah Eugene McSwain and Stella Mae Castille McSwain; and his sister, Sharon Darlene "Shea" McSwain.
