

He was a native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, Texas and had worked for many years for the U.S. Postal Service before his retirement in 2013. He was a proud U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, "Big Boy" and "Rowdy" and being an avid outdoorsman, he was often found hunting, fishing, and riding 4-wheelers. Dean had a passion for traveling across the U.S. and to various beaches.
Survivors include his daughter, Shannon McSwain of Lake Charles; his son, Jason Knox and wife, Sabrina of Trinity, North Carolina; and bonus daughters, Tammy Spell of Lake Charles and Ashli Acevedo Spell of Lumberton, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvah Eugene McSwain and Stella Mae Castille McSwain; and his sister, Sharon Darlene "Shea" McSwain.
A memorial gathering will be held from 9 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, June 27, at Hixson Funeral Home, 3001 Ryan Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana.
