Verna Marie Prudhomme

She was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on July 11, 1939 to Teurling Joseph Vidrine and Bernice Marie Israel Vidrine with whom she had a very special life long bond. Verna was married to Aaron Lee Prudhomme Sr. on December 24, 1957. She became a loving mother to her step daughter Theresa. She then became a mother to their three children Aaron, Davis and Denise. Verna was a caring and loving mother and wife. French music and Elvis Presley was the music of her choice. Her favorite food was boudin and she also enjoyed making her famous Chocolate peanut butter candy. She also enjoyed shrimping with her husband on their boat.

Verna is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Aaron Lee Prudhomme Sr.

She is survived by her daughters, Theresa Hicks Weir and her husband Eric of Sulphur, LA,

Denise Prudhomme of Scottsdale, Arizona; sons, Aaron Lee Prudhomme Jr. and his wife Anaise of DeQuincy, LA, Davis Prudhomme and his wife Jennifer of Ragley, LA; grandchildren, Jonathan, Melissa and Jamie; 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles from 9:00am until the time of the Rosary which will be held at 11:30am. Service will begin at 12:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Eunice, Louisiana at 2:00pm.
