Viola Marie Fontenot passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children on July 9, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on December 31, 1934, in Lake Arthur, Louisiana, to Adonis and Emily Cuvillier.
Viola loved her church, being around her children and grandchildren, but above all she loved her Lord and Savior. She will truly be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Martin Fontenot, Sr., her parents, 4 brothers: Adonis Jr., Vernon, Eddie, and Lionis Cuvillier, and 3 sisters: Gladys Newman, Amy Fontenot, and Pearl Kura.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Clifton M. Fontenot, Jr. and his wife, Carol of Sulphur; daughters: Glenda LaCombe and her husband, Rodney, Brenda Reliford and her husband, Johnny, Cindy Fontenot, Jennifer Robbins and her husband, Dave, and Beverly Stineff all of Lake Charles; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces nephews, and a host of friends.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will resume at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at Lighthouse Tabernacle Church in Sulphur, LA. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend, P. A. Upton officiating under the direction of J.E. Hixson Funeral Home. Burial service will be held privately in Consolata Cemetery.
