Billy was born October 4, 1929 in Grand Chenier and lived in the “Old Doxey Home” during his younger years. He worked with his father in the fur trade business. He moved to Cameron as a young adult and Cameron was his home.
Billy was a commercial fishermen and later started his own business “Doxey’s Oyster House”. He took pride in his job and making sure his customers were satisfied. He enjoyed visiting with family, friends and customers and many of his customers also become his friends. His determination and perseverance brought him back to his beloved Cameron after Hurricanes Audry , Rita and Ike. He was named as the Fur and Wildlife Festival, King Fur 26 as they honored the oyster industry. Billy never retired bud did slow down. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, fruit trees, western movies and his New Orleans Saints. He leaves his children with the understanding that hard work and determiniation are what you need to succeed.
He is survived by his children, James Albarado (Nedith) of Lake Charles; William (WC) Doxey of Cameron; Davy (Laura) Doxey of Cameron; Bobby Joe (Phyllis) of Grand Lake; Ruben Doxey of Cameron and Mary Palmer (Doug) of Andalusia, AL; sister, Luetta Nunez of Oak Grove; brother, Walden Doxey of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Billy Jo Albarado, Shelly Neff, Kevin Doxey, Tina Begnaud, Seth Nolan, Wesley Doxey, Ashley Doxey, Adam Doxey, Robyn Doxey, Brian Doxey, Marcus Doxey, Aaron Doxey, Barrett Doxey, Kent Doxey Sibyl Doxey, Walter Palmer, Suzan Stokes and Daniel Palmer; great grandchildren, Kirstopher Albarado, Benjamin Neff, Ethan Doxey, Mason Doxey, Marie Begnaud, Kamryn Nolan, Collin Doxey, MeLah Doxey, Paleigh Doxey, Payson Doxey, Leigha Doxey, Juday Doxey, Cameron Doxey, Hope Stokes, Charity Stokes, Faith Stokes, Sarah Grace Palmer Connor Palmer and Karter Palmer, great great grandchildren, Harmony, Leslie Brianna, Jaxson and Malachi.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Doxey, mother, Matilda Sutrlese Doxey, wife, Mary Lois Doxey, grandson, Alex Doxey, daughter-in-law, Bonita Doxey, brothers, James Andrew, Oran, Robert and Ulrich (BB) Doxey , sisters, Bonnier Miller and Verday Mae Folse.
Visitation will be Monday, May 7, 2018 from 4-9pm at the Wakefield United Methodist Church and resume Tuesday at 10am until time of service at the church. Funeral Services will be at 12 noon. Rev.
