

He was born in Wellington, Texas and was a resident of Lake Charles since 1952. Corky was a member of Westside Baptist Church. He was a member of American Legion Post 1 and S.O.W.E.R.S (Servants on Wheels Ever Ready). He served in the Korean War as a Staff Sargent of the 45th Artillery Division. He received an honorable discharge from the Texas National Guard at the age of 16. He worked at Cities Service which is Citgo, where he was known as "Smokey."
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Norma Kiser Burns of Moss Bluff; five children, Dee Dee Kingham and husband Darrell of Moss Bluff, Steven Burns and wife Rene' of Moss Bluff, Beth Finnigan and husband Terry of Keller, TX, Cammie Middleton and husband Mike of Houston, TX and Patricia Medina of Moss Bluff; one sister-in-law, Doris Burns of Amarillo, TX; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two more great grandchildren on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Norval, Arvin and Lee Burns; and two sisters, Zelma and Ima Burns.
His funeral will be at 10am Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Burial will be at Old Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation is from 4pm to 8pm Tuesday and from 8am until service time on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be, Aaron Middleton, Josh Burns, Jared Burns, Brian Kingham, Patrick Medina , Jon Sossamon and Jason Sibley. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Westside Baptist Church, 1437 Sutherland Rd., Lake Charles, LA 70611 for Good Shepherd Children’s Home in Honduras or to Wounded Warriors Project.
