Carolyn Diane Harkness

Carolyn Diane Harkness was born October 10, 1949. At approximately one year of age she was adopted by John and Beulah Harkness. During her toddler years the normal developmental milestones were not met and her parents knew they had a very special child. She loved dolls, tea parties and playing in the play house her parents made. As she got older she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, coloring, shopping, family outings, bowling, Special Olympics, birthday parties and Christmas. Going to church was an important part of her life and she knew all of the Bible stories. She enjoyed the AIM Friendship classes and retreats and going to church camp every summer. Carolyn was employed at several jobs making beds for a nursing home, a hotel and also sold Avon. Carolyn was deeply loved by her family. Following a brief illness she passed away on February 18, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by two sisters Joan (Dean) LaClair of Breckenridge, MI and Denise (Eldon) Grubb of Hastings, MI along with many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on February 20, 2015 at Koops Funeral Chapel 935 4th Ave, Lake Odessa MI, 48849 from 5pm until 8pm. A celebration of Carolyn's life will take place at the Countryside United Brethren Church, 4762 S. 11 Mile Road, Breckenridge MI 48615 on February 21, 2015 at 11am with family receiving friends from 10am until time of service.
