Christopher Lee Hyatt

November 26, 1967December 19, 2020

Christopher “Chris” Lee Hyatt, 53, of Lake Odessa, Michigan peacefully entered the gates of Heaven surrounded by his family on December 19, 2020 after his second courageous battle with cancer. Chris was born on November 26, 1967 to James Sr. and Ruth (Simmons) Hyatt in Lansing, Michigan. He grew up making many wonderful memories on the family homestead with big brothers, James Hyatt Jr. and Steve Hyatt, and little sister, Connie Sutherland. They all enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, and fishing as well as taking many family vacations to spend time with extended family in Tennessee. Those who knew Chris knew that he never met a stranger; everyone immediately became his best friend. He always made others feel loved and cared for; the type of guy who would give you the shirt off his back. He was welcomed into Heaven by those who preceded him with open, loving arms: his daughter, LaKisha Kemp; grandparents, Charlie and Lillie Hyatt and Leo and Katherine Simmons; and great-nephew Aberin Teachworth. Along with his parents and siblings, Chris is both survived and extremely missed by other close family members: his nieces and nephews Marci (Paul) Teachworth, Katy (Dave) VandeWaa, James (Holly) Hyatt III, Lindsay Hyatt, Halie Wieber, and Mason and Alex Sutherland; and great-nieces and nephews Karli, Lilli, Emma, Alli, Braelyn, Gabbi, Gannon, Grayson, and Hadley. He will also be missed by special friend Judy Taylor and her family and many, many more friends and family members around the country. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 23rd at 12:00pm at Sebewa Church of God in Lake Odessa, Michigan. There will be a private visitation from 11:00am to 11:30am for immediate family followed by a visitation for friends at 11:30am with the service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate any memorial contributions be made to the following GoFundMe account established by Chris’s family:

I always remember his kindness, heart felt, sense of humor. Always had a smile. Always loved his dog. And always loved Dale Earnhardt SR. He did alot of things for alot of people especially me. I will always remember him by the food truck, nascar, and his dog, and he took care of his family and friends.

I have known Chris all the way through school. He was always fun to be around and made everyone laugh. He had a heart of gold, would do anything for anybody. He would see me some where, all I heard was “Hey Tater Tot” and give me a big hug and kiss on the cheek . God I’m going to miss hearing that. My condolences to his family and Judy. RIH my friend.

My husband and I won’t be able to be at the funeral, because of our jobs. We both work at schools and around handy cap kids. Thoughts and prayers to you all. 😢🙏🏼

I wasn't around much growing up but whenever we were at the farm all together I always remember Chris being fun and making me laugh. I never forgot that and never will. Rest in peace but don't forget to laugh. ❤️
