Frederick John Dummer

Fred Dummer, age 88, of Woodland passed at his granddaughter's home surrounded by family on October, Friday 17, 2014. Fred was born September 29, 1926 in Chicago, Ill to Fred and Betty (Hurlbut) Dummer. Fred served in the Army during WWII in Japan. He graduated High School at the age of 15 and then began working for the federal government. He retired from the D.o.D after 40 years of service. Fred was an avid fisherman, bowler, crossword puzzler, farming, woodworker and golfer also known for his sweet tooth. On June 19, 1947 he married Margaret Cates and she preceded him in death in 2011. He will be missed dearly by: Son Fred (Janet) Dummer III, Grandchildren Elizabeth (Roger) Van Sickle, Timothy (Kari) Dummer, Fred (Amy) Dummer IV, Aaron Dummer, great grandchildren Ayden, Tiernen and Kian Van Sickle, Hudson and Gabriella Dummer, Frederick Dummer V, Calvin and Olivia Dummer. He was preceded in death by wife Margaret and son Marvin. Funeral services are planned for Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 11am at the Koops Funeral Chapel 935 4th Ave, Lake Odessa, MI 48849. Visitation is planned for Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 6pm till 8pm with a Rosary service being held at 7:15pm. Memorials may be given to the Hydrocephalus Association in Fred's name.
