Helen E. Tromp

Helen E. Tromp, age 83, of Lake Odessa, was called home to Glory to the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior on September 22, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Helene was born April 24, 1928 in Grand Rapids. She graduated from Ottawa Hills High School and was married to her loving husband, Jack for 63 years. Jack and Helen lived most of their married lives in Lake Odessa where they raised their family and Jack had a family medical practice. For many years, Helen assisted her husband in his medical practice, but her favorite job was raising her family and being active in the community. She was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church. She also served on the Lake Odessa Arts Commission, Ionia Mental Health Board for several years, and was a charter member of Pennock Hospital Guild #20 for 48 years. She was preceded in death by her father, George Richter; beloved in-laws, John and Fannie (Lamberts) Tromp; brothers, Walter (Lorraine) Kent, Robert Richter; sisters, Ruth (Henry) Speyer and Carol (Robert) Seif; sisters-in-law, Francis McCluskey, Roberta (Abe) VanderVlist; brother-in-law, Herman Word. Surviving is her loving husband of 63 years, Jack Tromp; children, Nancy (Jeff) Booi, Kathy (Jim) Stowell, Terry (Luann) Tromp and Tim (Michele) Tromp; 15 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, William (Betty) Richter; brothers-in-law, Woodrow (Lavern) Tromp, Gene McCluskey; sisters-in-law, Coral Visser, Marian Word, Eleanor (Richard) VerLee; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Koops Funeral Chapel – Lake Odessa. Funeral services for Helen will be conducted at 11 am Monday, September 26, 2011, with visitation one hour prior to service time, at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 10265 E.
