

Ida Mae Condon, 87, of Clarksville, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Magnum Care in Hastings. She was born June 19, 1924 in Kansas the daughter of Samuel and Rose (Stark) Smith. Following graduation she was married to James Condon who preceded her in death. "Ma" as she was known to her friends and family worked as a cook for Servo-mation, also at Schnitzelbank in Grand Rapids. Ida Mae was a member of St Dominic's Catholic Church for many years, volunteering much of her time helping with fundraisers, festivals and donating baked goods. After moving to Clarksville, she became a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Lake Odessa. Ma was known to send her homemade breads and baked goods to church even when she wasn't feeling well. She also became part of an alternative education program through Lakewood Public Schools known as LEAP. She was very proud to be an influence in the lives of young people, providing guidance, encouragement, and helping them succeed. She was known to them as "Grandma Mae". She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; sisters, Agnes and Dorothy; brother, William; granddaughter, Nikki. Surviving is her daughter, Mary (Dan) Karrar; grandchildren, Steve, Courtney and Danyelle; several nieces and nephews; extended family members, Katie Stuart, Nicole Nordhof, and Sandi Coiner. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 pm on Tuesday, preceded by one hour of visitation, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 531 Jordan Lake Avenue, Lake Odessa.
