James worked for Cargill in Lake Odessa for 10 years, where he made many friends. He was well known and loved in his community.
He is survived by his daughter Cathryn Knibbs and his son Dennis Knibbs and daughter-in-law Samantha. He was a proud grandfather to Victoria, Stephanie, Elijah, Kye, Kristopher, Kaylani, and Kayde. James is also survived by his siblings Kathleen Ruid and her husband Ron, William Knibbs, Thrisha Ruid, and Theresa Magee and her husband Jeff, along with many nieces and nephews, the chosen ones (you know who you are). Preceding James in death were his parents, Geraldine and Dennis Leineke, and his sister-in-law, Arlina Knibbs.
James was an avid fan of U of M and Lions football and was affectionately known as the Walker Man. His quick wit and very sarcastic nature were well-known traits, and he often showed his affection through humor; if he didn't make fun of you, he didn't like you.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life will occur at a later date.
