Joy Elaine Boger
1937 - 2021
On October 10, 1937, Joy Elaine was born to Linzey and Opal Leazenby of Clarksville, Michigan. The youngest of four, she grew up on the family farm where she developed her love of gardening while working alongside her dad with just about anything it took to make the farm thrive.
She married Jacob Richard Boger in 1953. They set up their home and raised five children in Clarksville: Joette, John, Jim, Janine, and Jack (Rich). Her children would be the first to tell you that she was a devoted wife and mother and provided a loving home for her family.
As her children married, Joy embraced each new son-in-law or daughter-in-law and loved them as her own children. Adding another place setting to the Sunday dinner table was a delight. And oh, how she loved her grandchildren. They called her “Mugga.” She was so proud of them and accepted them unconditionally—seventeen grands, twenty great-grands, and two great-great-grands.
Joy’s dearly beloved husband of forty-one years was promoted to heaven in 1994. A few years later, she moved to Lake Odessa where she lived in the cute little brick house across from the park for twenty-five years. In addition to her family, she found great delight in her flowers, visits from family, and spending time with her special friend Kendall Cross.
Joy stepped on to the shore of heaven in the early hours of Monday, June 21, 2021. In her final days, she was surrounded by the people most dear to her. She looked forward to heaven and never had an uncertainty of where she would spend eternity. She will be deeply missed, however we do not grieve without hope. “But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
We invite you to join our family as we remember and celebrate Joy Elaine Boger on Saturday, June 26, 2021. Visitation will be at 11:00a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at noon, all at Clarksville Bible Church, Clarksville, MI. The family kindly encourages you to wear bright colors in honor of Joy’s love for flowers and the beauty of her life.
Arrangements by Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa, MI. If you’d like, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Clarksville Bible Church to support their facility project.
