

Patricia devoted 26 years of faithful service as a CNA at Pennock Hospital, a vocation that reflected the steady kindness and care she extended to others throughout her life. Her presence was a comfort to many, and she will be remembered as a beloved and cherished woman whose compassion was evident in both word and deed.
A member of the Free Methodist Church in Hastings, MI, Patricia’s life was shaped by a sincere regard for people and a generous spirit of welcome. She loved people and animals, and her warmth was unmistakable—marked by a ready embrace, a gentle heart, and an imagination that brought light to those around her. Known for never meeting a stranger, Patricia had a way of making others feel seen and valued, often expressing affection with the familiar, heartfelt insistence that she would “adopt” anyone she took to.
She is survived by her husband, John Higgins; her daughter, Lenora Weidman; her son, John Higgins II; her daughter, Melissa (Tony) Rivera; grandchildren Heavenleigh (Nick) , Nick (Alix), Christopher, Jordan (Jayk), Tony (Kaitlyn) Alan, Alicia (Jager), Alanna, Matthew, Josh and John(Paige), along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dudley and Lenora Bennett; her children, Veronica Mokma and Steven Claypool; her sister, Norma June McNutt; her brother, Frederick Anderson; her brother, Robert Anderson; and her sister, Lavonda Bos.
Patricia will be deeply missed, and her memory will be held with gratitude by all who were blessed to know her.
A Celebration of her Life is being planned at the Free Methodist Church in 2635 M-43, Hastings, MI 49058 with visitation beginning at 11am on Thursday April 30, 2026 and service to begin at 12 noon. Patricia will be buried in Fuller Cemetery at a later date.
