Robert Ronald Shoemaker

Bob graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1948. After graduation, he spent 4 years in the Navy from 1948 until 1952 during the Korean War. When he returned home he worked for his father in Lake Odessa Auto Parts. Later purchasing the business from his father in 1965 and retiring in 1994. After retiring they spent time traveling and volunteering at churches, church camps and children's homes, mainly in the southern states.

Bob Married Jane Harner on September 19, 1954 at the methodist Church in Sheperd, MI. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage.

Bob was a member of the American Legion Post in Saranac and VFW post 4461 in Lake Odessa as well as the First Congregational Church in Lake Odessa.

He was preceded in death by; his parents Genevee & Clyde Shoemaker, brother Clyde Jr, (Doreen) Shoemaker, sisters Thelma Shoemaker and Phyllis (Marion) Jackson, Jackie ( Rodney) Young, Mother & father-in-law Fred and Belva Harner, brothers-in-law Ray (Mary Jane) Harner, Brooks Harner and sister-in-law Anabel Harner.

He is survived by his wife Jane, sons Ron (Rose) Shoemaker, Randy (Mari) Shoemaker, daughters Kim (Allen) Thigpen and Susan (Kahle) Strickland, Grandchildren; Ryan (Michelle) Shoemaker, Nicolas (Cate) Shoemaker, Andrea (Jordan) Young, Jacob, Josh, and Jeffrey Thigpen, Natalie Kempf, Matt (Sydney) Kempf, Lucas Shoemaker, Cole Shoemaker and step granddaughter Meagan, Ally and Caity Strickland, great-grandchildren Helena Shoemaker (Nicolas and Cate) and Lucas Shoemaker (Ryan and Michelle) and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregation Church in Lake Odessa and Alta Frost Scholarship Fund, VFW Post 4461

Funeral Services will be held a the First Congregational Church in Lake Odessa on April 1st, 2022 at 11am with visitation from 10am until time of services. Interment at Lakeside Cemetery will follow the service with Military honors by VFW post 4461.
