

Roberta (Bobbie) Manley, age 92, died August 22, 2021 at her home in Charlevoix, MI. She was born in Portland, MI to Charles “Ted” and Christine Guilford. She graduated from Portland High School in 1945. In 1949, she earned her bachelor’s degree in teaching from Michigan State University. She taught elementary school for six years at Muskegon Heights Public Schools. She moved back to Portland and taught for twenty-seven years at Portland Public Schools. In 1983, she retired from thirty-three years of teaching.
On June 25, 1955, she married Virgil Manley in Portland, MI. They made their home in Lake Odessa until 2009, when she and Virgil relocated to Charlevoix, MI. Bobbie is survived by her son Jim and her daughter Cathy (Bill) Silberhorn, both of Charlevoix, MI; two grandchildren Lauren (Ryan) Ringle, Petoskey, MI and Scott (Heather) Silberhorn, Charlevoix, MI; two great-grandchildren Crosby and Keaton; and extended family member Annet Pennards, the Netherlands. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles “Ted” and Christine, along with her husband Virgil.
A graveside service for Roberta will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 27, at Danby Township Cemetery, Portland, MI. The Reverend Dr. Marilyn Danielson will officiate over the service.
Funeral arrangements were made by Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa, MI and Mortenson Funeral Chapel Charlevoix, MI.
