Ruth Ann Shanks

Ruth was born on November 27, 1929.  She was the daughter of Newton and Pearl Clegg of Pickford, Michigan.  She was married to L. Marvin Shanks on October 8, 1947.  They lived in Marquette, Michigan while Marvin attended Northern Michigan University.  After he graduated, they moved to Pickford where they lived until 1956 when they moved to Lake Odessa.  Ruth worked in the Lake Odessa school system until she retired.  Marvin and Ruth were members of the Central United Methodist Church.  Ruth was passionate about family, pets and sewing.

Ruth is survived by three children:  Paula Kaye and Marsha (Tom) Hacker both of Holt, and Ken (Connie) Shanks of Lake Odessa.  She’s also survived by six grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband:  Marvin Shanks, her parents, Newton and Pearl Clegg and extended family in the upper peninsula of Michigan.

A memorial visitation will be held at Koop’s Funeral Home in Lake Odessa from 1:00 until 3:00 pm on June 28, 2016.  Burial will immediately follow at Woodland Cemetery.
