Viva L. Acker

Viva L. Acker, 101, of Lake Odessa, passed away on December 6, 2016 at her home. She was born on May 20, 1915 to Charles and Frances (Sherman) Fockler in Gratiot City, MI. On her birthday in 1939 she married John Weslow whom she spent 24 happy years together before his passing on January 8, 1964. On January15, 1966 she married Loren Acker and had 30 wonderful years before his passing in March 24, 1996. Viva worked as a Nurse's Aide and helped run the family farm. She was also a member of Veterans Ladies Auxiliary. Viva is survived by son, John (Linda) Weslow; two grandsons, Bart (Melanie) Weslow and Brian Weslow; great-granddaughters, Brandi Weslow and Rebecca Cobb; great grandson Gunner Weslow and great- great grandchild Colton; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Loren Acker and first husband John Weslow; father Charles Fockler; mother Frances Fockler; 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Visitation will be held at Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa, MI on Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 11am until time of service at 1pm. She will be laid to rest between her two husbands at Woodland Memorial Park, Woodland, MI. Memorials are suggested to VFW post 4461 Ladies Auxiliary.
